EU/UK Home Students

Students who hold a valid EU or British passport can apply directly to the University. We do not take applications through UCAS at this point and we do accept applications up to two weeks prior to registration and start of a semester. To ensure a quick reply and decision a student should download application form , complete, scan and return it to  admission@gauc.org.uk

Once this application has been received the Academic Team will the request further documents such as school transcripts and proof of EU/UK Home status. If successful, a conditional letter of acceptance will be sent out, explaining how the student is required to arrange payment through the University Finance office. This will be explained in the letter. Registration and semester dates will all be published on the webpage.


Student Refund Policy & Procedure

Refund Policy

Girne American University-Canterbury registration fee of 250 GBP is non-refundable.

For International Students

International students that are refused a visa are entitled to a refund. A refund request must be submitted within 30 days of the refusal. The Admissions Office will need the official visa refusal letter (Embassy / Council / High Commission originals only) and may request copies of every page in the applicant’s passport and the return of any acceptance documents we have issued.

Withdrawing from a Programme

Before Start Date

  • Students cancelling / withdrawing from a programme before the start date of the programme may obtain a refund from the Admissions Office upon written application.

After Start Date

  • The university will deduct 25% from fees for withdrawals made before the sixth week of a semester. Withdrawals made after the sixth week will not be entitled to a refund.

  • The university is required by law to report international students, who do not attend regularly or who withdraw from a programme of study, to the UK Border Agency.

Girne American University-Canterbury reserves the right to cancel a programme, or course, when there are insufficient applicants. In such cases students are entitled to a refund minus a non-refundable registration fee.
