Study Abroad Students
The following procedures are followed.
A) Scanned documents are sent to Canterbury by the Home campus for processing.
B) Canterbury issues a Visa letter of Acceptance, via email to the home campus International office. This office works with the student to submit all documents to the Visa office in Cyprus, USA, Singapore – whichever campus is applicable.
C) Students are urged to also fill in an application form Download Application Form
D) English Foundation students are urged to choose Home Stay accommodation.
E) It is the student’s responsibility to arrange their travel to the UK but they will be advised by their home campus.
F) Once a student’s travel is arranged Canterbury will be informed and airport pick-ups can be arranged for groups. Individuals travelling to the UK need to make their own way to the University.
Once a student arrives in Canterbury they will be registered again and assigned a Schedule of Lessons and Tutors.
Students will also receive an induction on Health & Safety, Fire Regulations, Student Support Services and a general introduction to Teaching Staff. A Student Handbook and Welcome Pack will also be provided.
HEALTH CARE
Medical Treatment
All Non EU students studying at GAU-Canterbury for 6 months or less will NOT be entitled to free healthcare provided by the National Health Service (NHS).
We strongly advise that you take out private medical insurance to cover any medical costs that may arise during your visit.
If you choose not to take out cover, a fee of £25 will need to be paid for any doctor’s appointment that you make.
All Non EU students studying at GAU-Canterbury for over six months are entitled to some free medical care with the National Health Service.
If you are studying for more than 6 months, you must ensure you register with a doctor’s surgery as soon as you arrive.
