Entry Requirements
To get onto an Undergraduate course a student needs to meet the following Academic and English Language entry requirements:
1. Academic Requirements
A Higher Secondary School certificate
GAU accepts one of the following combinations of academic attainment
3 A levels and 1 GCSE at grade C and above
2 A levels and 3 GCSE's at grade C and above
1 A level and 6 GCSE's at grade C and above
8 GCSE's at grade C and above
Grade 12 or 13 - High School completion certificate
Baccalaureate with a score of 55-69 - C or above
2. English Language Requirements
For these applicants whose mother tongue is not English, we require a recent pass in the any of the following qualifications:

IELTS - minimum of 5.5 in all areas. Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing

TOEFL iBT TEST - minimum of Listening - 21, Reading - 22, Speaking - 23 & Writing - 21

TOEIC - Minimum of Listening - 400, Reading - 385, Speaking - 160 & Writing - 150

Cambridge First English Certificate - minimum of Borderline in all areas. Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing

Cambridge Advanced English Certificate - minimum of Weak in all areas. Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - minimum of Listening - 51, Reading - 51, Writing - 51 & Speaking - 51
If you have an English Language qualification not listed above please contact the GAU Canterbury Admission office to find out if it meets the English Language requirement.
Or if you do not have any English Language qualification you can take an English Language course here at GAU Canterbury, to bring you up to these levels.
Note: The University currently does not process applications through UCAS or any other clearing body and therefore any student with an educational background that does not meet the above criteria is encouraged to contact the Admissions Office for an assessment of their suitability to study on a particular degree programme. This is particularly applicable to mature students, those aged 25 and older and students who left full-time education before attaining any GCSEs or High School but who might have the relevant skills achieved through work to join a course.
